Iceland Visa Requirements and Application Guidelines
Iceland is a member of the Schengen Area, which means that citizens of most countries need a Schengen visa to enter the country. The standard Schengen visa is a short-stay visa, valid for stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period.
The following are the requirements for a tourist/visitor visa to Iceland:
- A completed visa application form.
- Two recent passport photos (taken within the last 6 months).
- A valid passport that is valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended stay in the Schengen Area and has at least two blank pages.
- Roundtrip reservation or itinerary.
- Travel medical insurance that covers at least 30,000 Euros.
- Proof of financial means to support yourself during your stay in Iceland, such as bank statements or a letter from your employer.
- Proof of accommodation in Iceland, such as a hotel reservation or a letter from a friend or family member.
- If you are applying for a visa on behalf of a child, you will also need to provide a copy of the child's birth certificate.
You can apply for a visa at the Icelandic embassy or consulate in your home country. The application process typically takes 10-15 days.
Here are some additional guidelines for applying for a visa to Iceland:
- The visa application form must be completed in full and signed by the applicant.
- The passport photos must be taken against a white background and meet the Schengen visa photo requirements.
- The travel medical insurance must be valid for the entire duration of your stay in Iceland and cover all risks, including medical expenses, repatriation, and cancellation.
- The proof of financial means must show that you have enough money to support yourself during your stay in Iceland.
- The proof of accommodation must show that you have a place to stay in Iceland.
If you are applying for a visa on behalf of a child, you will also need to provide a copy of the child's birth certificate.
